The return of the Evil Dead

The 1981 movie, The Evil Dead, was directed by Sam Raimi and when it was released it was not instantly successful. These movies helped start the career of Bruce Campbell, who now stars in Burn Notice. It also helped launch the career of producer Robert Tapert who produced 30 Days of Night.

Sam Raimi has been in discussions over the last several years about making another Evil Dead movie. In 2009 he commented, “The chances are we will make a fourth film, it’s really incredible what you can do with technology these days and graphics for horror movies have come a long way.”

It has recently been announced that a new Evil Dead movie is in the works and it is to be directed by Fede Alvarez. The movie is going to tell the story of Mia, who is played by Jane Levy. She goes on a trip with friends to a cabin where they are haunted by evil spirits. Many fans will be disappointed that there is no recurrence of the character from the previous movie, Campbell. Many people are speculating that the reason why the comic book the movie is based on has launched a new character is in preparation for the upcoming movie.

Ms Levy has recently commented that she is excited about her role in the new film. She said, “I am a huge fan of the original film so it’s really great to be involved in this. The original movies are some of the scariest films I’ve ever seen and my mum has never watched them. I really hope she will watch this new production that I’m starring in but I won’t blame her if she doesn’t. This movie is not going to be humorous and it is definitely a dark horror film.”

The remake is going to be produced by Campbell who has commented, “What we are going to give you is a very scary horror movie. This is something of a reimagining and my character is not going to be appearing again. What we’re trying to achieve in this movie is something of a reset, there is going to be a new group of people to be tormented by the spirits.” The movie will start production in March.
