Treevenge short but sweet
Even though Treevenge is only 16 minutes in length the short film manages to capture the true spirit of the horror movies of the eighties as the dialogue and over the top acting is very campy and directly taken from the slash and hack horror films of the eighties.
Although the film is not driven by any dramatic characters, the trees are easy to feel a bit sorry for as the plot of the film revolves around trees that are uprooted from their nice cozy homes in the forest to become Christmas decorations. Of course, the trees get the final word when they soon take revenge on the town and show them just what horror lies in store for disrupting their peaceful lives.
Director Esiner is able to effectively help make viewers feel sorry for the demonic trees given the fact that the trees have their own language and voice while turning the humans into idiots. It’s a lot of fun once the entire film starts to kick up with blood spurting from everywhere and you will be glad that you saw the film. The gore and practical effects are also pretty good for a low budget film and it will not be disappointing.
