Bruce Campbell set to appear in new Evil Dead

Without Bruce Campbell being involved what would The Evil Dead remake be like. Campbell as the star made the original comedy/campy horror work as well as it could. Federico Alvarez the director of the remake has luckily for fans, promised a cameo appearance by Campbell in the movie and that no recognized stars will be cast in keeping with the original.

Recently fans learned Alvarez is well aware of the task at hand he has by accepting to remake the campy horror film of the 1980s. He said they would honor the original version and the fans that supported it then and the hope is to bring a whole new audience in as well.

He said that since he was a fan of the original he as well does not want to see a celebrity in the remake. The only face anyone will recognize will be that of Campbell when towards the end of the movie he makes a cameo. Some of the story details as well as most of the characters are going to be changed while maintaining the basic storyline of friends being beleaguered by demons alone in a cabin.

The Evil Deads’ original creator, Sam Raimi will produce the sequel through Ghost House Pictures. For existing fans it is nice to know is will be involved closely with the film as the film has a large  cult following. Because of such negative response by the cult following of fans, any previous attempt to remake The Evil Dead was squashed.

Diablo Cody is helping with the script for the new film and that is not all that terrible of a thing. For sure she is known for Juno the quirky teen film but Jennifer’s Body her comedy/horror film was decent with a great balance between the two elements of comedy and horror.

In 1981 the original Evil Dead was released on a very low budget with no recognized celebrities to take away from the scares and gruesome special effects. Campbell made it through as the only survivor of the entire group who go to stay on a cabin in the remote wilderness over the weekend and stumble upon ancient evil.

Demonic possessions and chaos follows with a considerable amount of very gross special effects all done without make-up or computer effects. The original was all horror with the other being a mix of horror and comedy. Cody’s involvement means there will most likely be some dark humor.
