Tony Todd Talks Candyman Rumors

October 16, 2008 · Print This Article

In a market that has been over saturated with remakes, sequels and prequels, it’s not surprising to hear news is floating around about a new Candyman movie, since the last film was released on VHS about 10 years ago. A remake has been in the talks for quite some time now, but it recently received more light with a theory revolving around Sony wanting to make the Candyman a white man, as insane an idea as that would be.

Tony Todd, the original Candyman sat down and discussed the idea with Shock Till You Drop. He agreed the idea is pretty ridiculous, but it seems Sony does want to go through with it, and the Candyman franchise is their property. A new Candyman would need to be cast and it would be hard to find someone to top Todd. Todd’s agents have gone on record as saying that all the remake talk may be a way togauge the public’s interest in the idea so that Sony can move forward with something new. It would be nice to see a Candyman remake, or even a sequel, but it would be even harder to see someone else step into the role. Only time will tell how far this rumor will fly.
