Dark Reel
Dark Reel is starts in the ’50s. A starlet by the name of Scarlett May is horrifically butchered during a screen test. Over the years, her case gains notoriety for the brutal nature of the crime, as well as the fact that the person who committed the grisly murder was never caught. Fast forwarding a little bit, 53 years to be exact, and a down trodden horror movie fan named Adam Waltz has just won a walk-on role in the horror film Pirate Wench, starring his favorite horror queen, Cassie Blue. Studio head Connor Pritchett, who’s legendary fame has been sinking over the years, hopes the walk-on roll will boost the publicity of the film.
Of course, the film gets plenty of publicity, but not in the manner Pritchett had hoped for. People involved with the production of the movie begin dying in grisly ways at the hands of a masked killer. As more and more people die, Adam’s role in the film expands to get bigger and bigger, giving the detectives of the case, Shields and LaRue a reason to suspect Adam has a hand in the killings. However, no one suspected a supernatural killer in the form of Scarlett May come back to seek her revenge. The movie is a darkly humorous and very bloody horror movie which will drag you along for one hell of a good time. The movies has some minor flaws, but it’s still a very highly enjoyable movie which delivers an excellent story played by an excellent cast.
