Michael Mosher On Pulse 2 & 3

As we get closer to the release date of Pulse 2 (and with Pulse 3 already in production), we’re beginning to see more and more of this film and what they’re able to get across on a special effects end. The lead makeup and FX artist for both movies, Michael Mosher, had a chance to discuss a little bit more detail about the film itself and how his work will fit into it.
As opposed to some of the more hands on FX work that Mosher had done with other horror films, these specific movies called for a significant amount of greenscreen usage. The film actually took advantage of a brand new 3D greenscreen process that Mosher stated has not been used before in any film. Most of the movie was shot against the screen, creating a completely digital world.
Besides sharing one character, Pulse 2 and 3 have nothing to do with the original film. The story follows the same girl as a child in Pulse 2 as they do with her as an adult in Pulse 3. The focus of the films sits on the concept that technology and how it runs the world, allowing for individuals as well as ghosts to use it as an outlet. Mosher added plenty of his own style to the film to give the interaction between human, ghost, and machine a much more chilling feel than most would expect out of these films.
Pulse 2 is due out on DVD September 30th.
